Hey there – I’m Arjuna and I’m glad you found me and the show.
Gentle Man is a weekly podcast devoted to redefining manhood in the 21st century. Each week features a discussion guiding men towards wholeness, kindness and a more positive manifestation of their masculinity.
Being a man in this century can be very confusing. What is our blueprint for success? We have a sense that the rules have shifted, and many of us are in the dark about what that means and how to proceed. How can we be more centered in ourselves and our own sense of manhood? How can we approach women in respectful ways that elicit positive responses instead of coming off as aggressive or creepy? How can we broaden our understanding of what manhood is and how it relates to living in this time?
These are some of the questions this show addresses, through solo ruminations and through guest appearances. My goal is to ever expand the concept of what men are and what manhood could be.

More About Arjuna

My journey with men’s work began back in my childhood. My parents were very spiritual and took me to retreats all over the globe. Occasionally, the retreat program would split the particpants into men’s and women’s circles. During the first men’s circle I attended, probably at the age of 8 or 9, I remember thinking, “Wow! I love this. I love hearing men share about their experiences and having a space devoted just to us.”
That sense of excitement has only grown in me since. Over the last couple decades, I’ve participated in countless men’s circles and other gatherings. I’ve worked with the Mankind Project and other localized methodologies for men’s work. My work is informed by my own deep practice of self inquiry, through my years of therapy, and through a focused study of current and past thinkers.
At some point I remembered feeling envious of all that feminism had contributed to the lives of women and the broader humanity, and thinking that men needed such a movement to advance and modernize their own concept of manhood. And while feminism has much to offer men and, really, everybody, I feel that men are still in need of work that focuses on their experiences and their unique needs. I believe that manhood is and can be every bit as expansive as feminists have shown womanhood can be. I aim to contribute to that conversation through my work.
I hope you’ll find this podcast enriching, and if you do, I hope you will share it with the people in your life, particularly men!
